One of the first signs that spring is coming

There is something wonderfully uplifting about seeing the first crocuses appear after winter. This mix of large-flowering crocuses brings an early burst of colour to the garden, with cheerful flowers emerging close to the ground in a beautiful selection of spring shades.

Plant them beneath deciduous trees, along paths and borders, between larger bulbs, or in pots where their flowers can be enjoyed at close range. For the most natural effect, scatter the bulbs and plant them where they fall.

Crocuses are small in stature but have a big seasonal impact, making them perfect for creating that first feeling of spring after the darker winter months.

Planting and care

Plant bulbs in autumn in well-draining soil, preferably in full sun or light shade. Plant with the pointed end facing upwards, approximately 5-8 cm apart. Water after planting and during prolonged dry spells. Crocuses are particularly well suited to naturalising, so allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering.
