Pepper

Peppers are an annual, heat-loving vegetable with a long growing season (130-170 days). Peppers are used for food and are rich in carbohydrates, minerals, especially potassium, C and B vitamins.

Peppers come in a variety of shapes - cylindrical, conical, tapered, flat and coloured: red, yellow, green, purple, brown. We suggest choosing from varieties that have already been tested in the Lithuanian climate.

Pepper seeds are packed in airtight, moisture-proof, temperature-proof, light-resistant polyethylene, aluminium and paper packaging that preserves the best qualities of the seeds from packing to sowing.

In a heated greenhouse, the peppers are sown at the end of winter and in a conventional greenhouse in mid-March. Peppers grow best in light soil, with a mixture of compost, fertile humusy soil, peat and sand. Peppers are particularly keen on warmth and humidity, and on areas sheltered from wind. After sowing the peppers, the ground should be covered with plastic wrap to ensure faster and more even germination. The peppers should be watered abundantly and frequently, 2-3 times a week.
