Red beetroot 'Cylindra' A medium-early beetroot variety. Rootlets are long, cylindrical. The flesh is deep red. The roots are very suitable for processing as they retain their colour well when boiled. Beetroot keeps well through the winter. Beetroot seeds grow well on acid-free, non-weedy, fertile loam with normal moisture content. Sowing at several dates. Beetroot for early use is sown as soon as it can get into the soil, beetroot for storage in the second half of May. Fertilisation with fresh manure is not recommended. Thinning is necessary to obtain a higher yield of root crops. 10 - 15 grams of beetroot seed per 10 square metres. |
