Autumn crocuses are autumn-flowering plants. They bloom at the beginning of October. White, bright pink or purple flowers shine close to the ground. Often called crocuses, autumn crocuses have no flower stalks or leaves during flowering, but their flowers are not as fragile as they may appear at first glance.

Autumn crocuses can bloom even after the first snowfall. Frost-damaged flowers recover during thaws, while cultivated varieties may continue blooming for another week after the snow melts. Autumn crocuses grow best in rock gardens, among fruit trees or in vegetable beds. They also thrive among daffodils and in places where they can remain undisturbed for at least five years.
