One of the earliest spring-flowering perennial bulbous flowers, Scilla siberica (Scilla siberica) produces intense blue, bell-shaped flowers (2-5 on a stem) in early or mid-spring. Each bulb produces 3-4 flower stalks above grassy foliage with narrow strap-shaped leaves. Easy to grow, it is one of the most winter-hardy scillas grown in Hardiness Zone 2. It is an excellent naturaliser, reproduces and returns year after year, turning the landscape into a sea of blue. It looks best when planted in large clumps.
