English lavender

A perennial, ornamental, medicinal, herbaceous plant. Fresh and dried lavender flowers and leaves are used for food and give products a mushroom-like smell and a bitter taste. Lavender is suitable for flavouring game, lamb, fatty meats and fish.

Lavender should be grown in sunny, wind-protected, humusy soil. Lavender seed germinates after 30-40 days. Overwinters covered. Lavender blooms in the second year, from July to August. The flowers are woody.
