Tulip Cape Cod

The leaves of these tulips have brown or red spots or stripes and wavy edges. They flower early and have a long flowering period. The large flowers are star- or goblet-shaped and usually display warm colours.

These beautiful tulips are relatively delicate. Plant them in a well-drained position, protect them carefully before winter and lift the bulbs annually.

Plant the tulips from mid-September to early October, depending on autumn weather conditions. The ideal soil temperature is 7–10 °C, and the soil should be sufficiently moist.

Planting depth and spacing depend on the size of the bulb. As a general rule, plant tulips at a depth equal to three times the bulb’s height—slightly shallower in heavy soil and deeper in light soil.

Dig up the tulip bulbs annually. Small, healthy bulbs may be lifted every two years. The best time to lift the bulbs is when the lowest leaf has not yet completely dried. The exact time varies between varieties.

These tulips grow up to 40 cm tall and should be planted 15 cm deep. Plant the tulip bulbs 10 cm apart.
