Hybrid tea rose ‘Gloria Dei’ (Peace rose) description

‘Gloria Dei’ is the most popular large-flowered hybrid tea rose of the 20th century. With its introduction, a new era in hybrid tea rose breeding began.

It is a vigorous, strong plant that is highly disease resistant and produces large flowers. The blooms remain attractive at all stages of flowering.

The flower color may vary depending on environmental conditions. In hot summers, more yellow tones appear. As the bud opens, the yellow shade turns into creamy white, with a soft pink blush appearing on the petal edges. At the end of flowering, the blooms become more pink.

The fragrance is very light and subtle. The foliage is dark green and glossy. The shrub is large, very frost and disease resistant.

It grows well in both sandy and loamy soil and prefers moderately moist conditions.
Optimal soil pH: 6–6.5

Care instructions

Remove all faded flowers and flower clusters. Water regularly during summer—preferably in the morning or evening. Avoid wetting the leaves and flowers.

Prune in early spring or late autumn, leaving shoots at about 15 cm. Cover remaining shoots with soil, peat, or sawdust to protect the plant from frost.
